This is the name for a product made by mixing the same pigments as water-dried paints and tube paints with high-grade natural starch and glue.
The one dried in a square plate is called Gansai, and the one in a round plate is called Tetsubachi, and is a particularly popular paint among Japanese painting materials.
The color tone is transparent and light colored, and is used for haiga, nanga, Japanese-style delicate paintings, illustrations for postcards, undercoating of mineral pigments, sketching, etc.
